Miracle of Deliverance
Miracle of Deliverance -
How Jesus or His angels lifted my Touareg from my leg that was pinned to the floor by the rotor.
On 1st September, 2015 at about 11.00 AM I was doing an inspection of the suspension and steering system under my VW Touareg. There was some metallic sound coming from the area of the wheels. I decided to check the front suspension hoping to locate the source of the sound.
I removed the right front wheel and continued to remove the splash guard in the wheel well to examine the suspension by trying to shake the various components in the hope of finding the cause of the the clinking sound. I was sitting flat on the concrete floor with my right leg folded. It was under the rotor.
Without warning the jack slipped and my leg was caught under the rotor. In no time did the rotor rest that a force seemed to lift it off my leg and placed it on the concrete floor. My left leg was also extended and was under the vehicle. It was pinned on the floor and my shoe bore more of the weight.
However, because the rear wheel held up the back of the vehicle, it was now in an incline position which made the bottom to only rest lightly on my shin bone and shoe. I managed to free the leg and removed it from under the vehicle. The middle of my shin bone was white where the skin was scraped off as I wriggled it from under the vehicle.
I repositioned my body so that my legs were no longer under the vehicle as I continued to look for any sign of a loose joint on the suspension and discovered that the rubber bushing was worn and cracked. I felt that must have been the source of the metallic sound every time I drove or stopped.
Meanwhile my grand kids; nine and fifteen who were hanging around while I was working saw when the jack slipped off and the vehicle falling on my leg. They immediately started screaming as the Nicole, the older one rushed into the house to get their grand mother, Rato.
I had not secured the vehicle before raising it to remove the wheel. When Rato came I asked her to apply the hand brakes and chock the rear wheels. I had another jack which I asked her to get for me and used it to raise the vehicle high enough to get the wheel back on.
I proceeded to replace the wheel well splash guard by screwing it back in place so that I could bolt on the wheel.
As I was screwing the splash guard on I became aware that my right leg at the knee where the rotor caught was swelling and was at the point that my pants leg was now tight.
About this time the shock of the injury was taking effect. I started to feel somewhat dizzy. I had about 5 screws left to finish securing the splash guard but a nauseating feeling started to overwhelm me. My mouth and stomach suddenly felt dry and I felt that I was going to faint. I dropped the remaining screws and the screw driver and lay down beside the vehicle.
My wife, Rato went to the back yard to call out to my back neighbour, Joe who immediately ran half a block around to our home. Rato got a pair of sissors and cut away my pants leg to expose the injury. When Joe arrived and saw the injury he started calling for an ambulance in spite of me asking him to wait until Luke, my son who was working about 15 minutes away to come.
The fire engine and ambulance arrived before he did. By this time I was becoming incoherent. As the paramedics lifted me from the side of the vehicle which was in the garage I was fighting back the urge to throw up. When I got in the ambulance the paramedic gave me a sick bag to throw up in as she administered what seemed to be a heavy dose of pain suppressant. On the way to the hospital I received another injection of the drug.
I fell asleep before the ambulance arrived at the hospital. When I came to my senses I found myself in the emergency ward on a bed. Joe, Rato and Luke were around me chatting about the injury. Luke and Rato took pictures of the swollen knee area as they debated whether bones were damaged. I learned that I already had an X-ray.
A few moments later a doctor came and was examing the injury. In a minute he left then returned with Dr. Hander and they were discussing the result of the X-ray. Dr. Hander then ordered a second X-ray. I had to wait about half an hour before the porter came and wheeled me to the X-ray room.
About an hour later Dr. Hander returned to tell me that he wanted to have another X-ray done and a CT scan performed as well. When he came to see me on the third occasion after the X-ray and CT scan were done he told me and my family that he could not indentify any damage to the bone or the knee. He ordered the nurse who accompanied him to dress and bandage the wound and secure the knee with a splint after which I could go home.
At home with time to reflect on this accident
While I was lying on the bed in the emergency ward Rato and Joe were speculating how I managed to remove the rotor of the front wheel from my leg. The SUV was about two tons. The front wheels bore the weight of the engine and most of the rest of the body of the vehicle. With the front now uneven a greater part of the weight was transferred to the rotor. How could I manage to get the rotor off my leg without help? Even more baffling was how come I did not sustain any crushed bone?
When I was working of the vehicle I had on a cap with the name of JESUS written in large, bold letters. I am proud to be identified as a Christian for I know He lives in me. When I call upon His name I could feel His presence on me. But at the time of the accident He was not on my mind. I was preoccupied with what I was doing. Yet, to deliberate on the removal of the vehicle on my leg or the fact that I suffered no broken bone is to attempt to deny the fact that the intervention of my Jesus and His angels saved me from the worst.
I was confined to bed at home for two weeks. Although Rato suffers from acute Rheumatoid arthritis I never heard her crying out in pain. She had to go up and down fourteen steps to the second floor where I lay to nurse me in bed several times every day.
By the end of the second week I managed to move around the house to help myself to whatever I could manage. During this time I had to visit my family doctor who on the first visit expressed his amazement that I only got away with this much injury.
He told me that I might have some degree of handicap because he felt that I would not regain full flexibility of the knee. But in my heart I felt the confidence that our God who moved the vehicle from my leg and prevented me from being pinned down until help arrived would not heal me halfway.
The swelling around the damaged area became hard and black. There were a few times when the fear of this hardness and blackness might become cancerous. But each time I rebuked the fear in the name of Jesus. I was not given any medication except for a shot of tetanus vaccine. Three days after the injury I started to apply hot water bottle twice daily. By the fourth week I noticed some improvement in the area on the hard, black muscles.
By the end of September I saw some more improvement. The area of hardness was shrinking and the blackness was clearing slowly as well. I had been using a pair of crutches to move around. Now I started to use only one crutch.
Today, just over six weeks later I felt the confidence that My GOD has completed the healing. I decided to walk by faith in Jesus without any support. My knee was able to bend just like the other one. Although I feel some discomfort sometimes, I was walking as though nothing ever happened to my leg. As part of my exercise routine I also included some squats. Praise the Lord my GOD!!
GLORY TO OUR GOD IN JESUS NAME!!!
